On Tuesday, April 1st, The Westgate Hotel’s General Manager, Annie Fitzgerald, had the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the San Diego Padres game at Petco Park. As Vice Chair of the San Diego Tourism Authority’s Board of Directors, representing the city’s hospitality industry, Annie took the mound for a moment that seamlessly connected San Diego’s baseball past with its present.
Annie’s first pitch wasn’t just a personal milestone, it was a symbolic nod to The Westgate Hotel’s deep-rooted connection to San Diego Padres history. Before the Padres were a Major League team, they played at Westgate Park (1958-1967), a state-of-the-art stadium built under the ownership of C. Arnholt Smith who originally opened The Westgate Hotel in 1970. That era paved the way for the Padres’ rise to the MLB, and today, we’re celebrating that legacy with a unique Westgate Park Package.
