SAN DIEGO (September 12, 2011) – PureFitness Sports Clubs, San Diego County’s leading health and fitness institution, and The Westgate Hotel, an iconic fixture in the heart of Downtown San Diego, announced today that a 37,000 square foot super sports club and spa will soon occupy a majority of the hotel’s retail space between 2nd and 3rd Avenues on Broadway. Planned for fall 2012 opening, the unprecedented fitness center will offer hotel guests and club members the ultimate health and wellness experience.

This state-of-the-art facility, designed by Hollander Design Group, will include a cardio deck with more than 200 pieces of the latest cardio equipment, circuit training, and three separate group exercise rooms offering classes in spinning, yoga and boot camp. The 15,000 square foot roof deck will feature an Olympic-sized lap pool, a relaxing lounge area with a fire pit and jacuzzi, and outdoor fitness and training stations. Additional amenities include 5,000 square feet of spacious locker space, a steam room and sauna, and laundry and dry cleaning services.

Guests of The Westgate Hotel and PureFitness members will experience the exclusive amenities of a four star hotel with the ultimate of fitness and spa services dedicated to a Health, Mind and Body wellbeing. Current PureFitness members will be given an exclusive opportunity to sign up as members at the new location at their existing membership fees. Reserved parking will be available for all PureFitness members.

Financing for PureFitness was provided by California Bank & Trust and arranged by Brian Harvey, vice president of commercial banking; the general contractor for the project is Carl Haines, Managing Director of Construction at Johnson and Jennings; and the project was brokered by Chris Downs and Richard Lydon of Stone Miller.
